Information we use

We store your email address, account identifier, chosen player name, game scores, map guesses, play allowance, referral activity and purchase entitlement. Your player name, score and country may appear on leaderboards. A session cookie keeps you signed in; local storage remembers game progress and settings on your device.

We use your IP address for abuse prevention and an approximate country for leaderboards. CourseGuessr does not request your device’s precise location. Map guesses are game answers, not your physical location.

Why we use it

We use this information to sign you in, sync games and Pro access across devices, run leaderboards and referrals, process purchases, prevent abuse and respond to problem reports. Sign-in and deletion codes expire after 10 minutes. Sessions expire after 90 days.

Services involved

Vercel hosts the game and its server functions; Neon stores account and game data; Resend delivers account emails; Cloudflare provides bot checks and map delivery; Esri supplies map imagery. Google Fonts and the Leaflet content delivery network receive connection information when their assets load.

Website purchases use Stripe. App purchases use Apple or Google Play. We store identifiers and entitlement status to verify purchases; payment card details are handled by the payment provider. These services may process information outside your country under their own privacy terms.

Umami receives website usage events such as game actions and page visits. We do not send your email address in those events. Problem reports include your message, account identifier when signed in, game context and browser information.

Keeping and deleting data

Account and game history are kept while your account exists. Choose Account → Delete account to request a code and permanently remove your account and game history from CourseGuessr. We retain unlinked store purchase identifiers to prevent a deleted purchase being assigned to another account. Payment providers may retain their own transaction records.

Deleting an account cancels website billing. Apple and Google Play subscriptions must be canceled in the corresponding store to stop future charges.

Your choices
